That's what we did Friday night. Steve & I went on the Sunset Special. We took off from San Diego around 6:30pm and headed towards Mission Bay, then over Downtown San Diego with Petco Park and all the highrises just below us. Then we continued south to Coronado; turned around and headed north up the coast towards Del Mar/Solana Beach. We saw three sunsets. We saw one and then our pilot took us higher to see it again and then higher again to see it one more time. He said he saw a green flash when we landed. We didn't know what he was talking about, but it has something to do with the sunset. At one point we flew just above the clouds, it was so cool, like we were floating on the clouds with the sun just to the left of us. We were out for a whole hour and enjoyed every minute of it!
I'm pleased to hear you finally have taken the sunset special plane ride.
ReplyDeleteWonderful!!!
My son and I got to enjoy a sunset biplane flight, too.
ReplyDeleteIn this past Friday's USA Today, they published a picture that I took of my son flying in a biplane in Camden, SC. USA Today is asking readers to vote, between now and Sept. 16th, on their favorite picture out of 8 pictures that they featured. There are other good shots of skydiving, an eagle with a fish in it's talons, etc. that have the Audubon Society and sky dive groups behind them and voting. They're kicking my photographic butt right now, several days into the voting.
Would you send this to your mailing list and ask them to go to www.openair.usatoday.com and vote on the biplane picture (if they like it), which is picture #2. As an amateur photographer, I'd love to win the professional Canon camera that the winner gets!
Thanks for your help,
Ralph Mayer,
Lexington, SC
P.S. Voters can vote once per day per computer, or something like that
