Weird Thoughts or Facts:

1. I moved in with Steve my husband when I was only fifteen.

2. We were both invited by different people who didn't even know each other to the same church. They realized our need for a Savior.

3. I've been a Christian for twenty-seven years.

4. Steve and I answered an altar call together.

5. Steve and I were baptized together.

6. Steve and I were both born at the same hospital a year apart.

7. We went to the same junior high school and high school and I worked for his dad when I was a teenager.

High School Reunion picnic

Steve

Today we went to our 30th high school reunion picnic. It was quite interesting. Only one of my childhood friends (from elementary school) were there and only one other last night at the reunion at The Butcher Shop. Steve's friends were there and my sister's friends were there, but mine are AWOL. Where are they? Who knows?
We had a great time last night. Looking at nametags to see if you could remember a face by the face that was only 1"X1". After thirty years there is so much change in a face. Some were immediately recognizable and others no such luck.
We've gone to our ten, twenty and now thirty year reunion. Hopefully we'll be here to make it the fortieth!

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Friday was an eventful day. We started by taking Sarah to the dr. for a bruise on her leg. She had been in the week before, but the "knot" that was in the middle of her leg was getting harder and bigger. The dr. said for her to rest and not play soccer, so no soccer game today!

I decided to see if Addis could squeeze into the appt time with Sarah. She has an infection on her face that started out as a molluscum and after it drained became infected. She's on antibiotics and it's healing nicely.

As we were driving down the road I decided to check on my sewing machine that was getting repaired. I hadn't heard from them so decided to stop in and see what was up. The clerk said she called about a week ago and left a message. Hmmm.........no one said a word about it. Par for the course I guess! I did buy a walking foot so when I sew my quilts my machine doesn't have to work so hard.

We then went to the pharmacy and visited with people around us while we waited in line. (Felt like I was back at Disneyland.)

I brought them home and then met Steve for an early dinner. Sarah, Joe and James had to be at church by 5 for a JR high event. They had lots of fun and a little mischief. :-)

We were up bright and early for soccer games yesterday. 8, 9:30, 12 & 2. Talk about being exhausted. I then gave a devotional at Nicole's wedding shower. I felt very inadequate, but did it anyways. You know, who am I to give Nicole advice on marriage? Hopefully you were able to take something from it Nicole and I didn't bore you to death. There was a chocolate fountain at her shower. Oh My Goodness......I think I could have just laid my face in it, but I behaved. I didn't. I settled for marshmallows, pineapple, bananas, strawberries & rice krispie treats smothered in chocolate.

Today we had church and soccer pictures.
(I did get to visit with Judy, Sharon & Keri.) Hi girls! (Fellow Christians at that!)

Steve took me out to La Pinata in Old Town. Sarah is babysitting so the older boys watched everyone with strict orders to those under authority to behave OR ELSE!!!

I visited with some older teens who were here and have now left. We're all just relaxin' and takin' it easy. Life is good. Hot tea in front of me. Too bad that Disney Almond Roca is gone.

Disney again!

Some of us headed to Disneyland again yesterday. What a blast!!! Sarah stayed home with the little girls again because of her leg. She was at soccer practice on Sept 30 and was kicked in the calf by an U16 boy that she was trying to trip and steal the ball from. She didn't get the ball, but she did get a nice 7" or so long bruise and probably as wide. It's had a nice big knot in the middle of it. I took her to the dr again today, but he is not going to drain it because he's afraid she'll catch a resistent staph infection when she's healing. So for now NO SOCCER or rough housing for that girl. (I had the dr tell her so there was no question about it.)

Anyways, Steve wasn't going and I thought taking two non-English speakers, four boys and two toddlers in a double stroller might be just a bit much for even me. Yes, at times I do recognize my limitations, but not often! So Sarah offered to stay home with them, which turned out great because it was packed.

We headed into California Adventure first and tackled Soaring Over California which the girls loved. They loved all the carnival type rides that we went on there except for a smaller rollercoaster. Addis hated it because she thought she was going to fall off. The way the track is made they want you think you're falling off, but she doesn't know that.

After a while we went into Disneyland and split up for awhile. Joe took the boys on some faster rides while we hit the carousel, tea cups, Alice in Wonderland, Storybook canal boats and Dumbo. We then mosied over to the ice cream store, ordered ice creams all around and then sat on the curb outside and people watched. Such fun!

We then went to Tomorrowland and rode the Autopia cars and can you believe this? Addis & Abi went on Space Mountain and LOVED IT!!! I couldn't enjoy it since I was sitting with Abi and I had no idea if she liked it or was having a heart attack. She loved it!!!

We continued on with rides into the evening and headed home about 7:30. Poor Abi was sleeping as she was walking out of the park. She was literally walking and sleeping. I looked at her as she walked and her eyes were closed. How do you do that!? Joe picked her up and carried her for me. He's such a good big brother. We stopped at In & Out for dinner and Idrove home listening to great music and sleeping children. :)

I have pics, but will have to post them later!

Ethiopian Gathering

Saturday we had friends over. One set of friends were adoptive families that have adopted or are adopting from Ethiopia, and the other set of friends were members of Maranatha Evangelical Ethiopian Church. It was wonderful to bring the two communities together and visit for the afternoon. I made spaghetti and the Ethiopian people brought injera and all the fixings to go with it. It was fantastic, splendid, wonderful, awesome, all those words that can describe when things just can't get any better. The Ethiopian men & women loved up on the kids that have been brought here from their homeland by loving families, and the kids in turn felt loved by their people. How great is that?! Addis & Abi Mulu loved showing their home and their bedroom to their friends and loved the idea that they came to THEIR house. It was a great afternoon and I even got some injera instructions out of it. If I go Friday to the church "Momma" is going to give me an injera starter. So far both attempts at making injera have failed. Oh well. That's what stores are for, right?

Are you ready for this?

I took the girls for a haircut and the stylist told me they should have their hair relaxed and just a little trim. This is the results.
